Austin sworn in as vice chief of staff

 

Secretary of the Army John M. McHugh swears in 33rd Vice Chief of Staff of the Army Gen. Lloyd J. Austin III at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, Va., Jan. 31.

Gen. Lloyd J. Austin III was sworn in as the Army’s 33rd vice chief of staff during a ceremony at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, Va., Jan. 31. Austin replaces Gen. Peter Chiarelli as the vice chief of staff of the Army. Chiarelli retired from the Army after 40 years of service during a ceremony held earlier in the day.
