Soldiers to celebrate military kids

April is the Month of the Military Child. To celebrate the children of men and women of the U.S. Army, Soldiers Live wants to feature stories about amazing Army kids and the outstanding organizations that support them. (U.S. Army photo)

Soldiers magazine is looking for original content from throughout the Army highlighting military kids and the Army organizations that support them. Selected content will be featured on Soldiers Live throughout the month of April in celebration of Month of the Military Child.

If you have a story about an outstanding military child, or one that highlights the great work of an Army unit or organization that has gone above and beyond to support Army kids, Soldiers would love to share it. Submissions should include a feature story (1,200-1,800 words) and six to 10 fully captioned and credited images.

To be considered for top placement on Soldiers Live, submissions should include an extreme horizontal lead image (photos box dimensions are 875 x 305 pixels at 72 dpi). Minimum size and resolution for all other images should be 5 x7 or 7 x 5 inches at 72 dpi. To view how your content will be displayed, visit Soldiers Live at

  1. Hello from Jefferson County, Missouri. We have a contest going too!
    As part of a new University of Missouri Extension program called Jefferson County Military Families Support Network, we have created a special contest.
    Proud to Be A Military Child Contest
    A contest for military children is intended to help non-military people recognize and learn what these special children experience, especially in Jefferson County.

    It has been decided the month of April is to be known as the “Month of The Military Child.” We are aware 700 military children are currently living in Jefferson County.
    A contest for military children is intended to help us recognize and learn what these special children experience.
    We are asking for submissions of 300 words or less, or a drawing on 8 1/2″ x 11″ paper be submitted by children whose parent(s), brother or sister, or another close relative is serving or has recently served in active military duty.
    Submissions will be on display as an exhibit for Armoed Forces Day in Hillsboro, MO and a commemorative book will be created by Jefferson County Military Families Support Network. Submissions are due by March 30, 2012.
