Gepponi V-Mail

Sgt. Angelo Gepponi would write home in pictures during his deployment to the Pacific theater in World War II. He would often send home sketches on V-Mail forms such as this one, depicting scenes from the day or portraits of other Soldiers. The U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, has 18 V-Mail sketches from Gepponi, which are displayed in the "Cook, Pot and Palette" exhibit. The exhibit will be open until December. (Courtesy of the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center)
